Welcome to the Civil Rights Advocacy homepage, a project of the Law Office of Zachary Margulis-Ohnuma. This page is dedicated to assisting victims of serious civil rights abuses at the hands of police officers, prison guards, and other public officials.

The Constitution of the United States protects the rights of individuals to be free from police brutality and excessive force, false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, deliberate indifference to the health or safety of prison inmates, and excessive use of force in prisons and jails. Nevertheless, individual rights and liberties continue to be violated on a daily basis. Federal and state laws provide remedies to compensate victims of civil rights violations, but these remedies can be difficult to obtain. If your civil rights have been violated by a public official, you need an experienced civil rights advocate on your side.

If you or someone you love has been seriously injured or killed due to civil rights abuses at the hands of a police officer or prison guard, please call our office at (212) 685-0999 to discuss the legal remedies that might be available to you.
