Benjamin Notterman
Benjamin Notterman is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney practicing in New York City. Mr. Notterman graduated from New York University School of Law and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell University. He joined ZMO Law PLLC in 2020 after a fellowship with the Center on the Administration of Criminal Law at NYU. Prior to that, he completed a clerkship in federal district court and practiced litigation at a large international law firm.
Mr. Notterman represents individuals in a range of civil rights matters in federal court, including cases of wrongful conviction, excessive force, and prisoner sexual abuse. He successfully litigated a claim in the New York Court of Claims on behalf of a client who was wrongfully incarcerated for 27 years. Mr. Notterman's criminal practice focuses on appellate matters in state and federal court. He also helps individuals serving excessive sentences who are seeking executive clemency.
Mr. Notterman has a deep interest in criminal justice reform. His writing has been published in the American Criminal Law Review, the Review of Law & Social Change, and the Huffington Post.
